The new thinking in plastic surgery is, rather than pulling the skin tighter, to replace the volume that has been lost, and this can be done by transferring fat cells from one part of the body to the face. This is then cleansed and concentrated and injected into the recipient site. Surprisingly, the whole procedure only takes about an hour and can be carried out under local anesthesia on the donor and recipient sites.
