Noses are one of those things that if you really focus on them, are sort of weird. Some people have noses that not only do not make them happy but actually make them feel uncomfortable. This could be because they consider their nose is too big, too wide, curved – as in a “Roman nose” – and so on. The result of this is that they feel the need to see a San Francisco “nose doctor” who can carry out an operation to change the structure of the nose. This treatment is known as a “rhinoplasty”.
Our Dr. Rabinovich is a foremost San Francisco nose doctor, and he carries out many nose surgeries for patients who need them. Rhinoplasty can be performed to change the contour of the bridge, sculpt the nasal tip, narrow the span of the nostrils, or change t”he angle between your nose and upper lip. It is also commonly done to correct a birth defect, facial injury, or breathing problem.
In addition, if you are going to have a nose job/rhinoplasty, it can be done in conjunction with other operations such as reshaping the chin or wrinkle removal in order to produce an overall pleasing aesthetic appearance.
Surgery Takes About Two Hours
Rhinoplasty is carried out in our state-of-the-art office in the Financial District of San Francisco, and it normally takes about two hours. It is carried out under light sedation or general anesthetic. Once the surgery has been completed, Dr. Rabinovich will prepare a custom-designed plastic splint that is fitted over the surface of your nose. This helps the nose to maintain a new shape and also helps to reduce swelling. In addition, Dr. Rabinovich may place internal packs inside your nostrils in order to stabilize your septum and minimize any bleeding.
You will need someone to take you home after the surgery has been completed, and Dr. Rabinovich will prescribe pain medication and routine antibiotics for a week. Most patients take a week off work, but it is perfectly OK to be outdoors if you wish (always consult with the Dr., as each individual has a unique recovery plan). Most of the bruising and swelling, which is inevitable with such surgery, will disappear within a couple of weeks or so, but there can be minor settling and shifting for up to a year.
There may also be the option of a non-surgical nose job. As a best-in-class San Francisco nose doctor, Dr. Rabinovich can use fillers to fill in depressed areas, lift the angle of the tip, and/or smooth out the appearance of any bumps on the bridge in order to achieve a more smooth and balanced appearance.
