Some people are just not happy with their noses. Not for objective, health reasons. But rather for aesthetic “look and feel” issues. At Visage Medspa & Facial Plastic Surgery Center, we quite understand.
We are all who and what we are, and when it comes to the shape of our noses it is entirely down to genetics in most cases. It can also be the result of trauma from something such as a car accident, of course.
No matter the cause, today there is an answer, and it is technically called a rhinoplasty. This is the term for San Francisco cosmetic nose surgery which can be used to alter the shape of your nose to conform to the way you would love it to look as opposed to the way that it looks at present. It is also sometimes referred to as a “nose job”, but the terminology is not so important as the overall results.
Rhinoplasty can be performed to change the contour of the bridge, sculpt the nasal tip, narrow the span of the nostrils, or change the angle between your nose and upper lip. It can also be used to alter birth defects which may result in problems with breathing.
A Two-Hour Procedure
Our Dr. Alex Rabinovich is one of the foremost doctors for San Francisco cosmetic nose surgery, and he performs many of them in our state-of-the-art cosmetic surgery center in the Financial District. The procedure takes about two hours, and it can be carried out with a general anesthetic or twilight sedation. When the surgery has been finished, Dr. Rabinovich will produce a custom-designed splint to place over the nose in order to help it keep its’ new shape and reduce any swelling to a minimum. It may also be necessary to insert internal packs inside the nostrils to minimize any bleeding and stabilize the septum.
If you have a nose job/rhinoplasty at our offices in the Financial District, you will need someone to take you home afterward. Many patients decide to stay at home for a week after the procedure while using routine antibiotics and painkillers. However, it is perfectly safe to go outdoors almost immediately. Most of the bruising and swelling after a San Francisco cosmetic nose surgery will disappear within two to three weeks, but minor settling can continue for as much as a year afterward.
It may also be possible to reshape your nose using fillers which can be done without invasive surgery. This is a relatively new procedure which has only been available over the last 20 years.
If you would like the shape of your nose altered, make an appointment to see our Dr. Rabinovich for a consultation.
